Hi

When you say you changed out the top end, have you replaced the guides and seals or just the guides ? Does it smoke continually or mainly when you change gears ?

Sorry it took so long to get back on here. Been to beach on vacation. The guy who replaced the rings did nothing to the valve guides or seals. Why I do not know they came with the gasket set. What can I say the work was free but for naught. It smokes continually. It does not smoke for about 30-60 seconds after you start the motor but when it starts it is continual

Well I tore it back down today. When i pulled the head off there was oil sitting on piston. Pulled the jug off expecting to find a broke oil ring but everything looked good. Put it all backed together, changed the valve stem seals on the way hit the starter. It ran for about 30 - 40 seconds with out smoking and then started to really pour the blue smoke. I'm at a loss. Don't know were to go from here!!! Any suggestions welcome.

let it run for a while, take it on good ride , besides the cylinder and rings need to seat properly , your exhaust could be full of oil as well ,Burn a tank of gas in it , good long steady run then bounce the rpm's up and down under load, seat those rings in your bore, and at the same keeping bugs away!!! Good Luck , if your bike is still smoking after this ride , then something is wrong , rings improperly installed ? or upside down , i hope buddy checked your bore / honed your cylinder etc . anyways good luck with it.
