Default Lifts

I want to get a lift for my 97. Seen a lot of different variations made out of different materials. I would like some advice on the best lift for the money. Ease of install isn't really an issue but cost is always an issue these days.

The 2 most popular kits out there would most likely be SSATV and Highlifter, there is also the gorilla and perfex lift. But like I said the most comon are the first 2. Both are great lifts that nobody has yet had a problem with that Ive heard of. The SSATV kit is stainless, laser cut and a little cheaper than the highlifter kit which is zinc plated, stamped steel.

how is the rear lifted with these kits? remounting shocks or with spring spacers? I've seen pics of the front extended shock mounts and they don't seem too tough to fab up. I've also read of people cutting pvc for spring spacers. If thats all thats in a kit I'll save my $75-100 and spend a little time on it. For some reason the newer lifts seem to be about 1/2 the cost. Different parts or demand?

What about the 450 rears then swapping the rears to the front. I did this and got 2 inches out of it. Paid 30 bucks for the 450 rear shocks.

Now that sounds even more like my price. Did you just watch ebay for the 450 shocks? Did this swap change/stiffen your ride much?

just a caution about the perfex kit. it does soften the suspension a lot.... its great in the rear end and there are two settings, but the front was way too soft for me and no way to adjust it. It would bottom out from time to time and the shocks lost too much damping due to the arms having more torque on them. The most annoying/ dangerous part was that the font end would almost fully compress when the brakes were applied hard. I kept the rear perefex and built my own for the front end. pm me if you want to and I can send you the template that I used to make the front lift.
