During a night ride no less. All of the lights went dark. I mean Speedometer light (neutral, oil and reverse indicator lights still work), taillights, headlights, aux driving lights, even the little green light on the speedometer, all out! Points to a blown fuse right? Tried that, fuse was good I even swapped it just to make sure. No luck.
Got the bike back home and pulled out the trusty SM. No help! NOTHING in the manual for all lights out troubleshooting, only individual light troubleshooting and R/R. The wiring diagram in the manual is a joke. No help. Anyone have a REAL wiring schematic for the 1997 400FW? Checked the Rectifier, Regulator harness with a tester. Checks good as did the Rectifier itself. Checked for any broken/loose wiring connectors (without completely taking all the plastic apart) could not see any problems. Other than a bad headlight switch on the handlebars(would this effect the lights on the speedometer?) what am I missing? Temporarily hooked up a set of fog lights directly to the battery with a toggle switch taped to the handle bars for some lights. any knowledge of a similar problem or solution would be greatly appreciated!!! |

i would defently suspect the head light switch to be the culprit. i know the foreman 500 the deplay light goes off with the head lights but the Reverse, neutral, oil, and 4x4 light all work with head lights.
