Does the Honda Foreman TRX400FW have a plug to add the Acc plug like a cigar lighter? I need something for plugging in a spot light or something else if not what would be the best to add one.
no never came with an option to PLUG and PLAY like option, BUT there very simple to add yourself
just go buy a waterproof cig plug and inline fuse kit, and decide where you want to add it, I added mine on my 400, to the rear fender near the rear brake light on the right side, have had it there for 17 yrs now?
I directly wired it right to battery with inline fuse, haven't had a problem
JUST remember this is an ATV< so the amount of power you can draw isn't the same as a big full sized truck with a high output alternator?
some spot lights draw a LOT of juice!
Led light bars are way more common for lighting for driving needs and even some with adjustable aim , are nice too and draw less amps
so, food for thought!
I will tell you this then, IF your running decent sized sprayer,(ran both a 40 and a 55 gallon trailer one off my 400) your NOT going to want to use a 12 volt cig plug deal
its a LOT of tax on your atv's charging system
I always used a deep cell marine battery and ran spray off that, could spray for about 6-8 hrs at a time and never have to worry about the atv';s charging system
My sprayer I had quick connect like jump starter clamps to hook to battery and a hand held on/off remote switch
did that for about 10 yrs, ran a 16 ft boom too, sprayed about 16 acres this way, in smaller sized food plots
i have a 16 gallon tank with a 2.3 gpm, 50 psi 12 volt sprayer with 6 ft spray pattern for feed plots that i put on back rack . my ruby handles it good. no big drain on system.
a dedicated quick disconnect just for it from battery.( i use it for trickle charger also.)
Just to add here , my sprayer was a 3.8 gallon pump, and NO battery tender on atv due to NO power on the farm it lived on at the time, and I would run sprayer for 5-7+ hrs at a time with just tank refills for down time and only be running atv at about 3-4 mph for entire time, so NOT making many rpms
the first few yrs I ran of atv system, battery used to get super hot and be low in power the next time I went to use the atv
so, I went with my set upm due to didn't feel like making the atv's system work as hard as it seemed to be working, and maybe my atv is a an older set up, or?? just smaller on things
don't know
But going to the deep cell battery on the rack solved all my issue's and concerns, got 8+ yrs out of battery before I sold set up and gave battery away with sprayer and it still worked?
so, just food for thought
adding a cig plug to atv without a plug and play isn't hard, rather simple to be honest, might even be easier
pending where you want it
as NO fenders or plastics /racks, need to be removed to get to any wiring?
or I sure didn't have to
i can see why you used a deep cycle battery, your pump used way more amps than the smaller cheap pumps, when i used my ruby for plowing my #3500 lb. winch really was hard on system here in this cold Michigan winters, i used a deep cycle boat battery strapped on back rack and made a world of difference lifting plow.
that's kinda why I add to things in the first post, about a LOT might come down to size of teh sprayer your using and HOW long you run it!
However,
I plow a lot and honestly never had any issue's on battery there, only used a small 2k winch for 14 yrs before going to a 2500 lb one, so maybe that is why or?
the fact I always ran atv a lot before ever parking after plowing, and many times in between jobs, had to travel a bunch to get to them
but when I plow the trail behind my place(about 8 miles of it)
I always had a 8 mile drive home to charge things some ??
and the like of plowing for me
when I would be spraying, I kind of parked it when done, as was worn out from going so slow and sucking up so many chemicals, I wanted to get home faster and a cleaned up
always a lot of mist when spraying and some chemicals are hard on the lung (only have one left LOL)
when i bought my ruby new they threw in a #1500 super winch to get me to buy a red ruby, only color they had left, they sold the last green one which is the color i wanted the week before, it worked great for the plow but did not have enough to pull my ruby out of the deep stuff. so i went with a bigger winch. it really put a drain on battery compared to the 1500 but was a lot faster and way more power.
i did not have a problem when it was in the 20's and 30's but when it got down to single digit and below them it would really be noticeable, dim the light quite a bit and slow down, that is when i decided to use my boat battery....
same as 1500, a superwinch supposed to only draw 5 amps, never checked the draw but in really cold weather it works the ruby....paid a little over 200 for it.
