I'd check for driveshaft play, main pinion play (input shaft). Jack the front of the bike up and check for diff backlash.
And drop the oil out and inspect for metal.
Standard tire size?, there's also a current post on here that recommends checking the turning speeds of the wheels using a chalk mark, courtesy of @toodeep (I think)
Sorry you can't check for backlash on a front diff. My bad hahah
You could also jack the rear of the bike up and see if it drags with the front. If you jack front and back of the bike up only 3 wheels should spin unless you try holding back the spinning wheel
I have a96 foreman 400 4x4 that needs some work in the front end and don't know where to start. It started chattering a little while ago and now when its under any kind of force it seems like the front wheels are not engaging. Any help out there. Thanks
i have the same four wheeler as you do.. the teeth is chipped and broken to pieces.. its so hard to find a whole diff.:crying:
